Incorrect Amazon delivery Fraud, Theft or a Mistake

It was sent in a fold over cardboard sleeve, with amazon print on it.
I didn't use the gift wrap service, as I thought it would arrive in time before her birthday.
I went to my parents to look at the package last night, the book looked like it had been used, and there was no invoice or receipt in or attached to the box.
I admit I was angry, but I was mostly upset for my sister.
Like I've stated earlier, it's a coincidence the subject of the book was emotional and sensitive to her, however I shouldn;t have to be ringing a call centre for 1 hour and 10 minutes to explain that the parcel took 8 days to get there, and it wanted a replacement by tomorrow.
Amazon should have been bending over bakwards to replace and correct their error. I shouldn't have to be out of pocket beacause they messed up an order.
I came on here because this is moneysavingexpert.com, and I use on line stores to save on high street prices. I posted in this forum to see if anyone had any dealings with amazon, and who they contacted.
Halloway and dmg, I can only assume you are both trying to wind me up.
I have got this in perspective, and I am totally in my rights to ring up and complain and demand a replacement.0 -
Lebowski - I reckon you are well within your rights to expect Amazon to sort this without you having to waste a lot of time and money!
Don't worry about the snidey remarks - MSE is populated with a relatively small number of people who can't wait to jump on the ' lets pillory the OP' bandwagon everytime somebody mentions their very reasonable wish that a company will sort out a mistake !ELITE 5:2

EVERY thread now seems to end up with the OP invoking the 'But what if a child...' argument. It's too hilarious for words.
I'll tell you something, Big Lebowski, a child wouldn't make half the fuss you are making.
You don't know children very well if you think that a child expecting the latest PS3 in the post, and got Gloria Huniford's book instead, wouldn't make a fuss.
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0 -

well realistically amazon havent sent your camera yet so a replacement doesnt come into it (how can they replace somthing they never sent you), even if they do send a book the order has not been fulfilled, thats the angle id play it, if they have refunded the order then its fair enough but its a pain having to buy another one at greater cost.0 -
amazon provide a freephone number
you can hardly expect them to pay again because for whatever reason you dont use it
however a refund on the postage is reasonable IMO0
