i need to buy a new camcorder and stuck on two of them. One i saw in The gadget show (Canon MVX460) and the other i saw in Jessops (canon mv 940). Both are available at jessops but confused which one to buy. Can anyone help me decide i mean this is the first camcorder im buying so want a good one.
one thing to add, question about Pal/ntsc. i might need to go to canada for 6 months, so would the camcorders work there or would it be useless over there as they are on ntsc or would i record on pal mini dvs and after editing i can burn the video on ntsc (would there be picture deterioation).
thanks

You might want to slip over to AVForums, there are some very informative discussions about camcorders. I was looking at the Canon outlet page on E-bay, where you can buy factory recon camcorders with full guarantee etc, but after reading through some of the posts on AVForums, I'm not so sure.
The most favoured models in the mid-price range, say about £500 or so, seem to be the Panasonic GS250, and the Sony HC96. Depends what you want, of course. For me, I just want the most bang for my buck, as it were, good quality, reliability, and of course, reasonable price. I've had an analogue Canon for a few years and it's been great, but brand loyalty in this line isn't too clever. Whatever you do, good luck, and I'm sure you will wonder, like the rest of us, why you didn't do it before. It's a lot of money, but family and friends memories are priceless.0
