Help! - Scammed by Muse ticket site?

Museboxoffice.com had very few, if any Muse tickets in the first place
It's one in a very long list of websites operated by the same crooks designed to scam people of their money
Around 200 people were advised by this dodgy website that they could collect their tickets from the box office at Teignmouth and no such tickets existed
Basically the site offers tickets for sale that it does not possess, takes your money, allegedly tries to find the tickets for you, and, surprise surprise, its ticket suppliers let it down!
That is how they try to circumvent fraud legislation
Contact the Police and obtain a crime reference number, contact your card issuer, and, if its over £100 and a credit card, ask your credit card company for a refund under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974
If its a debit card try for a chargeback especially if your card has the Visa or Mastercard logo on it
I strongly advise you NEVER to buy tickets via debit card, always use a credit card as you have a bit more protection from fraud
Report the matter to Consumer Direct as they are compiling statistics on how widespread a problem ticket fraud is
Lastly, if a ticket website has no discernible contact details, simply a blank message form, do not go near it
The chances are, like Museboxoffice.com its actually Museboxoffice.CON0 -
Also check the domain with a whois site (google brings up lots) and check how long the site has been up and running-if it's just popped up like this one did then AVOID! at least the police and Trading Standards are looking into it now after the Teignmouth fiasco.0

Thanks for the guidance Markland. I too was duped by those swines. I hope they get their come-uppance for it. Thankfully I used a credit card and blocked it before they got to repeat the crime a second time, so their ill-gotten gains were limited to the first transaction.0

Hi,
Snap, exactly the same has happened to me. I have done some research and it does indeed seem that this is a scam website. There are other people talking about this on Muse.mu website. If you google 'muse ticket scam' you will see the forum. There is someone on there who has had more money taken from his bank so I would contact your bank if I were you and report the fraud.
I am certainly not prepared to travel to Devon to meet a non existant company rep.
Looks like we have been had this time, lesson learned I guess. The annoying thing is that that company still come up at the top if you search muse tickets, so other people are being conned all the time.
Let me know your thoughts.

Snap also!!! Exactly the same thing happened to me, we are trying to get our money back via the credit card used to book the ticket. I was sooo annoyed as I had travelled down to Devon and decided to make a few days break of it. Thinking back, it was obviously a scam as all the reputable ticket agencies had sold out, and meeting at the venue??? Ah well you live and learn!. The annoying this is that they are still advertising tickets for the Europe gigs, I hope that Trading Standards are able to stop this before others are scammed.0 -
Me too.Supposed to be going to see them at the SECC on monday, but seen as the website has gone and any emails i send them come back as failed.Managed to get tickets for the gig (from a tout again) but the total cost to me for 2 tickets is now £320..Reported them to watchdog but would like to involve the police too.Any advice on who to report them too?.It's about high time the goverment stepped in on the touting industry as it's gone beyond just rip off prices and has gone as far as selling tickets that don't exist and seems to be getting worse every year.If i had no morales i would do it myself as it seems an easy way to make a buck with almost no comeback. The goverment seem hell bent on clamping down on illeagle downloading because they are loosing money through it but dont care less on touting because they are not loosing anything from secondry ticket sales.Im pretty certain taht museboxoffive.com are the same crowd as u2boxoffice.com who did exactly the same.So what happens say when Robbie goes on tour.Who's betting we get robbiewilliamsboxoffice.com and what will the authorities do?.Nothing.The goverment are too interested in duty free tobbaco, bootleg dvd's and cd's as they say on the adverts "it funds criminal activities. So what are museboxoffice.com.Certainly more criminal than any man that sells tobbaco in the pub that he brought back off his holiday.Take the stance that Glastonbury's taken on (photo and address on ticket) and stamp out touting.Touts are bad enough when you get the ticket's but this new craze of selling tickets that dont exist is criminal.Rant finished.Thankyou.0

Flashboylawton, I agree with you 100% regarding these websites and the damage they do the the secondary ticketing market. I don't like the word tout as it has connotations of underhandedness and some pot-bet person outside a venue selling tickets which are possibly fake. I lost £800 (reclaimed through my credit card company fortunately) when I booked Reading festival tickets through Sosmasterticket website last year which was a HUGE scam and trapped thousands of people.
Though not all 'touts' should be labeled like this. Although most people may not like this (and I've heard many arguments which have little merit) there are genuine number whom delivery time and time again and arn't scammers. They provide a service where some people are lazy or have no time- management to buy them when on sale or for some people only want front row tickets or where others cant buy tickets to an event in the UK because they don't have a UK address and they live abroad. These people don't fund criminal activities but the illegal websites possibly do. I just want to make sure that people understand that not everyone whom sells event tickets are categorised as doinf something illegal. Its one thing to say illegal another to say imoral, etc.
Furthermore, the government has released numerous policy papers on the secondary ticketing business. These are detailed and have round table discussions with many industry stakeholders about the issue and whether an argument for tightening the practice is necessary.

Hi everyone,
Sorry I didn't update this nearer the time, but essentially museboxoffice.com claimed that I could meet with someone at the gig to pick up the tickets, until about 5pm on the day of the concert (by which time I was in Exeter), when I received an email (I have them set to come to my phone) telling me they had no tickets and recommended I get them from someone else. Nice.
Thankfully I only live about 1hr30 from Teignmouth, and was able to get two more tickets the next day (at well above the normal prices) and had a great time at the saturday night gig. To some degree I was expecting this after having read everything online about them, but still, not a great experience!
They did offer me a refund for the original tickets, and after one email to follow up, they refunded me the full cost about 10 days later.
Museboxoffice.com has now gone offline (just a holding page now), but given that there were several other sites linked to this one, I'm sure that there will be more victims in 2010! I cannot recommend strongly enough to everyone that they buy only from reputable ticket agencies and do a bit of research online before parting with cash if buying from an unfamiliar site. I was lucky that I at least got a refund - there are plenty of stories out there from people who didn't.
