So much for the bbq summer.. Anyway, we haven't been abroad since our honeymoon and really want to go abroad next Aug. We have a 4yr old, & 2yr old twins . Can anyone recommend good sites, resorts for us, especially as from NI we have less flight/ferry options. Everyone seems to be really positive about the campsites these days and it sounds ideal for the kids.
Cheers, any help/advice appreciated.

I can recommend them but don't rip yourself off by booking now and do you really have to go in August when it's most expensive? Early July would be much cheaper and a bit less hot if you're thinking of the Mediterranean.
If sterling stays where it is against the euro, you won't be trampled in the rush.
I wouldn't even think about booking before next May at the earliest. The thought of being beside someone who paid far less than me is too painful.0 -
I am going to disagree with 36square.
We always book early to get the early booking discount & don't forget to tick the box saying you have travelled with them before to get the previous traveller discount.:T
We have booked with Siblu this year for 2010 (end July/early Aug) as Keycamp had no 3 beds with air con & decking left where we wanted to go (we are going back to the South coast, went this year & had a brilliant time). Personally I think air con & decking are really important, air con to keep our little ones cool in the middle of the day & decking as a lot of the pitches are quite dusty & it gives you an extra room.
We like the Vendee, around St Jean de Mont. I always look to see how close a site is to the beach. Also like an on site bakery.
I can honestly say we have not had a site we did not like & have been to about 10 now!
Good luck

And remember that Siblu take Tesco vouchers.0

We've been for the past 5 years and we thoroughly enjoy it - not stayed on a bad site yet. We have travelled to different regions of France, as well as once to Italy (although it did rain a lot there that time - may half-term). If you know of any airports you can fly to, might be able to help you.
I would echo the comments about the decking and air con - definitely worth any extra money they cost as you have extra outdoor living space whilst trying to keep the mobile home cool.0 -
There are direct flights from BFS to Barcelona, so sites within 1-2 hours of there would be a good option. We were in Roda de bera last year about 1 hour south of Barcelona - excellent site and facilities, 10 mins walk to beach. We are booked to go north of Barcelona for next year. Once you have narrowed down your preferences, try tripadvisor for alternative comments before you book (we changed one of our booked choices after reading some of the comments on there about the site).0

We flew to Barcelona the first time we Keycamped. We then drove to the very southern tip of the Languedoc region of France - took about 3 hours, but a very easy drive. There are lots of sites in Argeles sur Mer which is not too far from the border.0

I have not been yet but have booked to go to South of France next Easter with Eurocamp. We are flying Easyjet to Nice and then hiring a car. We are staying at La Baume in Frejus which is less than an hours drive. (Friend with 4 kids recommended it)
Siblu are on the same site so as mentioned before you could use your Tesco vouchers.
I have two children aged 4 and 2 so I think it will be great.0 -

Despite what others say, I'm convinced that you are being very foolish in booking so early.
If you want to put it to the test why don't you send me a pm with the details of site, accommodation, dates and price and I will get back to you next summer after I've found it cheaper.
But maybe that's the last thing you'll want to hear!0 -

I have just spent 4 weeks at La Baume and I didn't want to come home!! It is extremely expensive though, so be careful!
I would disagree about the not booking early - the good accommodation gets booked up very early, so you won't necessarily get what you want unless you do it early - also with Siblu, it is only a £50 refundable deposit until November, when you confirm and pay another £50 - the rest you pay 8 weeks before!
We have been to La Baume twice and adore it there - a fantastic campsite and it is near all the interesting places (go to St Maxime and then get a boat to St Tropez to avoid sitting in traffic for hours and I am not exaggerating!)
We have also been to La Sirene which is near Carcassone - that was also a fantastic site. We have been to Pesciera at the bottom of Lake Garda which was gorgeous, but that was 9 years ago, so it may have changed but Bella Italia site is supposed to be excellent.
Siblu have always offered the best value for money as far as I can tell - accommodation is much bigger and they are cheaper!!0 -
We've used this company several times to stay in Keycamp campsites - cheaper than the keycamp website. We stayed in southern France, but I really wouldn't recommend driving there from NI...
