Digital Voice Recorders-Advice Please

Options
Hi all
I receive a Disabled Students' Allowance so have got to be careful with this purchase. I need to buy a good voice recorder to make copious research & study notes for my next Course with the OU. My disability means I cannot make hand-written notes, my speech is impaired and my dexterity/co-ordination is poor. I use Nuance Dragon Naturally Speaking software on my 'puter so would like a voice recorder that has connectivity with my PC. Any advice and/or recommendations would be much appreciated.

Cheers
Cherry

Do you have a Disabled Living Foundation Centre anywhere near you? There's one in Bristol, and they had a special 'Technical' section.

If it's not nearby, have a look through their website...and might be a good idea to post the question on their forum too.

Also, perhaps you could find out if your local college has anyone who specialises in helping people with disability. Our local college does and has a range of equipment he can demonstrate to the students...I know you're doing an OU course, but it wouldn't hurt to ask.

Do you have a contact for where you got the Dragon software? they might also be able to tell you about other equipment it can be loaded onto.

And one last idea...might seem a bit cheeky but again worth a try....
people with Visual Impairment often use this type of equipment so you could contact your local Society for Visual Impairment/or Social Services and get to contact the Rehab Officer or the RNIB and speak to someone that deals with Education/Employment - they might well be able to give you some useful advice.

    Best of luck
