From the last few lines - A Green where four streets round do run etc... I've actually got the answer this time (yes I was shocked too  :rotfl:) I don't know about the first bit of the clue though, but I'm sure I'm right.

But... I think I would spoil the fun if I just said it, I thought some might like to find it for themselves ;)

So if you want my answer click below, lol, or feel free to ignore.

This is my answer
(it's the family home of the wife of this man responsible for this)

For the first part - I think the 'said son' of Amergin might refer to Cu Chulainn / Setanta who was his foster son (hence said son not true son?) and the person 'in charge' might be of the company Setanta Sports? I might be on completely the wrong track though.

Good luck :)

P.S. we got the last hunt right! The winner was Beryl Groves

I have to say I think I've steamed through this one, a few loose ends....so don't look if you don't want the game potentially spoilt!

Agree with Amergins 'said' son being Cu Chulainn a.k.a. Setanta, founders of Setanta Sports are Michael O'Rourke and Leonard Ryan who were both educated at Blackrock College Dublin. I cannot for the life of me find out which one is married to Ellen, but I have found out Michael is married to the daughter of a former Ireland International Rugby player, so I guess it is him!

Blackrock College 1937 annual gives details of the colleges founding, take away 55 years from that is 1882.

1882 Mary Jane Murray (MjM) was the mother of James Joyce, whose statue is in St Stephens Green (where four streets do run)

The rest is specified as per Reniannen's post, so I won't spoil the end either..........;)

If anyone can confirm the name of Michael O'Rourke's wife, I would be grateful!:D
  • I think I can clear up the first few lines. Nothing to do with sports!!

1st line "Begin from said son of Amergin's house"
Legend has it that St Fin Barre was the son of Amergin, the house is St. Fin Barre Cathedral, Cork

2nd line "In charge once was he who made Ellen his Spouse"
From a list of previous Deans, searching the background of these reveals, James Thomas O'Brien had a wife called Ellen.

3rd line "Study where he studied and read in the year"
James Thomas O'Brien studied at, Trinity College, Dublin.
A delve into their website reveals the 1937 reading room.

Then it's as reniannen and Shobby correctly identified.

Hope ties up all the loose ends
