Ever since we had the new washing machine installed i can hear a glugging sound come from the sink when it drains the waste water out, we never had the problem with the old washer is there something i can do to stop this happening ?
The washer waste is connected under the sink before the u bend.

I take it the under sink connection is via a spigot into the trap area?
If so the reason your new washing machine is doing this is because it probably drains faster (more litres per min) than your old one.
The best way to cure this is to plumb in a separate washing machine trap (the way it used to be done before someone somewhere thought of those spigot things that seemed like a good idea at the time - but I'm not bitter about this at all.....:)).
To do this you'll have to tee off your existing waste using a40mm swept tee and then a 40mm length of pipe to a washing machine trap. Depending on access etc This would cost around £10 to £15 in materials and probably £30 in labour (if you got someone else to do it)
Alternitively, you can (or used to be able to get) a strap on spigot that you could put on as low as poss on your 40mm waste. This is more of a DIY job ,but again depends on access.
If you decide to go with either of these options, make sure you blank off the existing spigot. I usually fill it with silicone and let it go off for 24 hours.
