Spend roughly £50, 2 adults one child. The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0

We've recently started ordering online for our groceries as we tend to spend a lot less than if we went to the actual store. By going to the store I usually end up picking up different things that are on offer and then more often than not they are never used and go to waste! I have to go now as here's my asda delivery!! Save your pennies and do the same!0

we spend between £30-£40 for two adults and three cats. Whilst myself and my husband are not brand aware, my cats are! its Felix and Purina one for them, thats nearly a tenner a week!
At least they are not to proud to poo in value kitty litter!0 -

Totally agree, i shop at Waitrose online. Quality is great, as is the service and i dont have to negotiate my way round the supermarket dodging all the unsupervised brats running amok. I have definately saved money by shopping online. The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -
How can there be votes in the last 4 categories?

OK Call me a geek, but since May I have started a spreadsheet and put cost of all my spend( for groceries and home products) there and set up a quick calc to let me know how much for the year and per week as an average.
I do most of my buying at Sainsbury, coz it is nearest and cost of driving to cheaper ones would not be worthwhile.
next top up on any bargains BOGOF etc. and including the Dog Food( for my dog I hasten to add) I have managed to reduce my weekly spend from £37 per week to approx £32 per week and still working on it.
and to add to Misskool's ideas on economy thread, you don't need to much in the way of pans and things, but you do need to accept that the cheaper products can be made to give equally as good a taste as others and you can have some fun.
BTW I am these days existing on my Pension credit of £130 per week so do need to keep a watch.0 -

What an eye-opener this poll is... I had no idea that spending over £75 per week on groceries was bad (that's an average week for me - £50 per week if I'm really scrimping and saving). I'm very into money saving but I don't see how on earth do people live on £20-29 per person per weekly shop???
I live alone, so I can't share the cost of some things across multiple people... but still? £20-29? How is that possible? I mean, that has to cover toilet rolls, cleaning products, pet food, hygiene, food and drink... it can't be done I tell you! It CAN'T!48% of people who took this poll LIED!!
You're spelling is effecting me so much. Im trying not to be phased by it but your all making me loose my mind on mass!! My head is loosing it's hair. I'm going to take myself off the electoral role like I should of done ages ago and move to the Caribean. I already brought my plane ticket, all be it a refundable 1.0 -
Does the weekly shop include alcohol??!:beer:0

We spend £90 - £100 per week for 2 adults, 1 teenager and 3 younger children (one still in nappie). This is easy and involves no cutting really. I reckon I could reduce down to £75 a week for the 6 of us (oh and a dog, 2 cats and 2 hamsters too!) but the time it would take in shopping in different places for offers is not worth it.
I cook 6 out of 7 meals from scratch and have one cheat night of pizza or fishfingers and frozen chips type thing a week. I do two shops - one aldi/lidl and one major supermarket and take advantage of bogofs and offers etc. I also meal plan in advance which makes it very easy to keep to a budget.
Maybe this is why we can keep to a lowish budget judging by some of the jaw-dropping amounts others seemingly spend.
Example, this week our main meals are pizza and salad (£8 for 4 large pizzas at Aldi), spaghetti bolognese (max £5 for the 6 of us including veggies) baked potatoes (no more than £5 for the 6 of us all in), lentil and vegetable curry (no more than £3 for us all). I am guessing that people spending £150 per person per week are buying take outs, ready meals and stuff though I still struggle to see how!!Mum of 4 lovely children0
