Homebase - How to Feel Very Small

 My mad story of Homebase and how belittling Customer Services can be
Needed tester size paint to cover up wall marks. Delighted when I got there to see a sign about 1.5 feet across and 6 inches down across the price tag saying all Crown 40ml tester tubes half price. Now, they were only £1.19 in the first place, but you know the saying, look after the pennies - so I thought, well at that price, I'll buy two, then I can use one to cover up the current marks, and hold one in spare (as it's daughters room and marks sure to come up again).
Anyway, went through checkout with two tubes and one other item, paid in cash - as was walking away from till, guess what, the reduction hadn't come off. Went back to check, and yes, the sign was definitely there.
Went to Customer Services and had receipt in hand with tubes - and VERY POLITELY said "Excuse me, sign says half price, but I've been charged full price". Told rather off handedly that the offer finished two weeks ago. I said, but the signs still there, right above the paint, she repeated now rather rudely, but it finished two weeks ago. This went on for a while until I said, well if it finished two weeks ago, why is the sign still there. She said, something along the lines of she didn't know, but I felt as though the inference was that I'd snuck in with the sign under my arms and scoured the paint rails to find this particular brand, and then, with added tape etc. stuck it up and was now a trouble maker!! She called over another member of staff and told me I had to go with this member of staff to show her - which I did .... this member of staff was very nice, and she said all the right things etc. but by now there was no way I was going back to Customer Services over £1.19 to face up to Miss Snotty Draws and have the money probably flung at me!! So I just said to the nice staff member that due to the other ones attitude that they could keep their £1.19 and attempt in future not to break Trading Standards and left £1.19 poorer. ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! Who's the fool - that'll be me then!!
Thank you, I feel better now that I've named and shamed!!!

Matter of principle. If an offer finishes then they should remove the signs.Happy chappy0

I would pass this onto Trading Standards - I know the paint wasnt worth that much but it is the principle and if there are other signs still up its very misleading!Weight Loss - 102lb0

I'd alert Trading Standards purely because of the snotty cow at CS
I understand ALOT more than I care to let on

Ooooh, I just might, but to be honest the nice one did say that they would honour it if I went back to CS, I just didn't want too as the CS lady had been so rude in the first place .... I'm a bit calmer now, but thanks for letting me vent!!!0
