I have just been advised by an association representing people with my health problems, to contact my M.P. regarding being turned down for D.L.A.?
I 1st applied in 2007
This is the 2nd time I have been turned down, even though I have supplied mountains of info and G.P./ specialist letters of support etc
I am going to make an appointment at Dial U.K. but I would be really grateful for any information/input
Thanks

I've previously contacted my MP via an online "fax your MP" service, and also by finding his email via google.0

Thanks
I have the contact info
I just wondered if anyone had ever spoken to their MP. about benefits?
What they said etc?

I work for a charity for people with disabilities and our 3 local MPs all play a very active part in our work and encourage members to let them know if they have a specific problem.
They can't necessarily help, although sometimes they can, but it lets them know that there may be local issues that need to be addressed. Our central MP for instance has raised questions in the house about a transport service for older people and for those with disabilities.
Our MPs are there for us so let them know if you have problems. My suggestion would be to keep directly to the facts, leave out suppositions and too many personal issues. State clearly with bullet points if necessary what has happened and where you feel the decision was wrong based on information that you can reference.
As has been said you can either get their details online or you cna write to them C/O the house of Commons. If you are minded to you can even lobby them in person, find out when they are attending the house and attend the lobby in person and ask to see your MP and he/she should come and see you as soon as there is a break in proceedings. Probably best to write though.
They will also have local surgeries that will be publicised in local papers.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Have you appealed the decisions?
Personally I would contact welfare rights(via most town halls)who will help you either appeal or submit a new application,as opposed to your mp who cant really help fight a decision you think is wrong,DIAL are ok but after 2 failed attempts personally i would now try welfare rights.0 -
I wrote to my local Mp when my DD's DLA was reduced, I ddi say that I wasn't expecing him to get the decision changed but did express the reasons why I thought it was wrong and highlighted certain points and mistakes that DLA made when doing the claim. He did write back enclosing a copy of the letter which he had sent to DLA and then sen me a copy of the letter which he go in reply from them which was very helpful." I would not change you for the world, but I would change the world for you"

I contacted my MP earlier this year - by email (no visits necessary) - when my original application for DLA was rejected and surprise, surprise - less than a month later - I received an "update" from DWP giving me Medium Care Allowance - no explanation - just an update - but who am I to complain ?0

When you get a decision letter you have a month to challenge it. The letter should give reasons and if you dispute these you can appeal. Or if they appear not to have taken account of the evidence you supplied you could ask them to look at it again and say why ie whose evidence they have ignored. You could get CAB to help you to challenge the decision. Even better, get them to complete your claim form in the first place.0
