I just recieved an email from a company ive never heard of stating some unusual activity has been taking place in my account, looks very dodgy to me or is legitemet anyone know?

We are contacting you to remind you that on Dec. 30, 2004 our Account Review Team identified some unusual activity in your account. In accordance with SouthTrust's User Agreement and to ensure that your account has not been compromised, access to your account was limited. Your account access will remain limited until this issue has been resolved. We encourage you to log in and perform the steps necessary to restore your account access as soon as possible. Even without having seen this scam discussed on every TV watchdog programme and every newspaper for months it is obviously a scam especially as you don't bank with that bank!
It was actually banking scams like this that started the whole phishing industry. Paypal and ebay scam mails although very common now both came late to the phishing scam game.
According to Business Lunch on BBC TV a few months ago only 4% of people receiving these e mails even consider that they might be legit. However, 4% of the hundreds if not thousands sent out every day still gives a great return to the scammers.
