I run a small business and provide car parking for my customers, especially the disabled and elderly ones. Unfortunately the police, traffic wardens, community support officers etc do not have any authority on private property, so I have no alternative but to employ a council licensed wheel clamping company. In my experience most people WILL park their vehicles, (and I mean cars, vans and even lorries) anywhere they please without a bye or leave, or any consideration for anyone. they would not give a damn if I went out of business because my customers could not gain access to my shop. So sort that one out all you brain boxes and barrackroom lawyers out there!!!!!!

    Sounds reasonable to me.

What exactly is it you want 'sorted'?

Perhaps you are concerned that the Company you use has misleading, illegal signs? Maybe the threatening correspondence they send to people with false claims? What exactly?

Oh, --and educate me; What does ''Council Licensed'' mean?

Actually I do have sympathy with you as we run a small business ourselves with free parking however being in the country its not such a problem. However I may be slow but just how does slapping a lump of metal on someones wheel get the parking space free? Had you said a tow company I could have understood it. As with Neil I've yet to hear of a council licensed clamper.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.

So clamped vehicles remain in your small car park for longer and thus prevent more of your customers being able to park whilst disgruntled drivers (prospective customers) spread negative comments about their experience on your premises.

Good luck with the future of your business :)

I think it is called deterrent. However, I saw the best, cheapest deterrent in a small company car park.

The owner drove in, then pulled a clamp from his boot, put it on his own car and walked into work. The clamp had some sort of official looking warning notice on it to make it look like he had been clamped.

That would have scared me off for sure !

Wait for someone to park in your car park that is not using your shop and park your car in front of theres blocking it. If they do come into the shop just tell them you have no idea whose car it is. Far better than clamping or ticketing and having all these people whine its not fair

At which point, when plod are called, you get done for obstruction at the very least. Any argument and out comes 'Section 5'.
