Can't agree with that Pheobe, in what way does it destroy your carpet? We've had ours for years and there's no sign of any damage to any carpets. An upright vacuum cleaner works in a totally different way to a Henry or other cyclinder vacuum cleaner.

Nooooooo that's not true. We've had our Sebo for six or seven years, it's still going strong and no damage to anything. Particularly useful because it automatically adjusts itself on carpet or hard flooring. I wouldn't buy anything else!
  • I bought the Bissell Pwerforce Bagless Upright fro Asda last week, £40 a complete bargain. I did have the Morphy Richards Performair Pets Cyclonic and it was rubbish, I thought the rug needed cleaning until I got the Bissell, its brought the rug and carpets up a treat, and works well on the wood floors aswell.

Our vacuum, a dyson has just given up today and like you was looking at the Dyson dc25 but have not heard of sebo?! Why is the Sebo superior to Dyson? We do not have pets but would still like a vacuum that does a good job.
  • Buy an Oreck you will not be disappointed. We have had ours about 10yrs & it is still lifting up dirt like it was new.

Well for a start its a bit unfair to compare Henry with Sebo uprights; Henry is a heavy pull along old fashioned canister tub that needs a strong hand to reel in the cable and uses suction only assisted floor heads without a brush roll (Unless you go for the more expensive electrified hose and tubes that then have an electric head for increased thread pick up). Forget that.

Go with the Sebo; they are quieter than both the Dyson or Oreck models and all Oreck uprights have a dirty fan system which means the dirt impeller fans often get broken with grit. Bought brand new Sebo's come with 5 years and 2 additional years guarantee, the X upright is the oldest in the range yet our first one lasted 14 years with only ONE drive belt replacement needed. X range is ideal if you're looking for a full sized upright; has a 4 led light system to tell you what's going on as well as a fantastic millisecond shut down system that when clogs (if they do happen) are removed the vacuum can be switched on and off immediately after the clog has been removed. Gliding is fantastic and doesn't feel heavy when pushing or pulling. I find it a better vacuum than Miele's S7 which is bigger, wider and more cumbersome as well as being a lot pricier.

The Sebo Felix is a smaller compact upright that does away with electronic guidance system but has floor heads like a cylinder vacuum that can be changed over when needed. I have both models; my mum likes the X model because of the top wand at the top of machine and bags seem to last forever. i prefer the Felix in my small flat as it manages everything quite easily and can swerve around corners.

Dyson on the other hand is noisier and the Ball fails to get under low furniture. Only plus for the Dyson is that there are no bags to buy. I've owned three Dysons and they are not built to last!

This place seem to do vacuums cheaper than Argos.
    Here's a sebo, £4 delivery: http://www.redsale.co.uk/buy-sebo-x5-extra-upright-vacuum-cleaner

I just googled the company, so no idea how good they are.
