Broken Hearted, I know what you are going through all the time. I owe money on a credit card and a car loan and also to my parents. They will be paid back by October (£190/month) but the car loan costs £135 a month for 5 years. Then I have the credit card bill on top. I try and survive on £400 a month for everything after the bills are paid, which should be easy, but something always comes up and I find it hard to resist treats. They make me feel better for a short while but then I realise I am a little bit further away from being debt free.

Having a girl friend who takes the stance that all debt is evil and shares my problems with her parents doesn't help, as all it achieves is my back goes up, my stress levels increase (did I mention I hate my job too, even if it is well paid?) and I resent her nagging.

Just remember, you seem to be doing better than me. Keep your chin up kiddo :)

You have gone strangely quiet. Hope this is because you are stuffing your face with pizza and chocs and knocking back the wine!

    Hey BH

Sorry to see you are feeling a bit down about it all. Nothing strnage in that - we are all human after all. I think you are making massive progress and you are being an :A with your plan. Sometimes though, we can be a little too angelic.

I feel we have to strike a balance between being good, paying all our debts and commitments and having a few 'treats' here and there. I put treat in inverted commas because only you know what would feel like a treat but wouldn't make you feel bad the following day.

For example, I have my nails done once or twice a month. It costs me £10 each time. It is something I could live without and I could put the £10 toward my savings to pay off my CC but it makes me feel so nice and pampered and that feeling lasts a few days.

I would really recommend you find something that you regard as a 'treat' and cut yourself some slack. Being :A all the time is not all it's hyped up to be ;)

Look forward to seeing your positive attitude back on here, it helps so many of us xx

I agree with joining pigsback for treats (and joing up at least 1 other in your house to make it more worth while). Over the past 8 months we have had £20 leisure vouchers for places like pizza hut and costa coffee, a few movie tickets each and we recently got £20 John Lewis vouchers. You can even save up the John Lewis vouchers for Christmas. If you are on line a lot it is worthwhile. All those vouchers we have had is from 2 accounts because I signed up my BF too, but I do all the clicks! I only ever earnt 10 points from buying something, so basically it has all been free. It feels great when the vouchers come in the post! It won't help you get a packet of biscuits now, but in a coulpe of months I bet you will have earnt enough for a rteat for yourself.

I love the pigsback site too - its well worth joining up, and in just under a month got a £10 voucher for Arcadia group (dorothy perkins, burton, topshop etc), OH has just sent off for one too! Very good for treating yourself with no guilty feelings!

RE: pizza on a diet, if you go to Farmfoods you can pick up 5 weight watchers pizzas for a £5, also ww desserts are included too. I rarely eat ready made foods at the moment, but they are useful to keep in the freezer on standby! You could look at making your own pizza too, check out the OS thread I think there is a good recipe there now.

I can relate to this completely. Have to say have gone abit mad and spent £55 in town on Sunday. Feel very annoyed about it but now I have to let it go...it was on presents which is my downfall.

Also clothes are becoming more of an issue now summer is looming...must lose weight so can fit into cheaper clothes!!

Just wanted to let you know you're not on your own. I have been surprised (and slightly ashamed) at feeling of jealousey and envy I've had towards some family who have loads (or seem to) and are just spending spending spending on thier kids and things. BUT I need to remember that it doesn't make you happy if you have debts.....
