cleaning a secondhand buggy

Hi all,
I have bought a second hand tandem buggy from ebay but it is a little bit grubby and smells a bit where it has been stored. Has anyone got any tips for cleaning it up? The covers do not really appear to come off unless I start unscrewing bits . Would really appreciate any advice.

I would try a damp cloth to get the grubby bits off and then get some Frebreeze spray it on and then air it out in the fresh air.

Mild soapy water and a bit of elbow grease, i have bought loads of second hand pushchairs and always give them a good clean regardless of their condition.

I use soapy waster and a cloth, little scrubbing action on the tough stains (sometimes with an old tooth brush if the marks are in an awkward place) then leave it to air dry. Sometimes i need to repeat this if it is a bit grubbier then expected but they usually come up fine.
I dont like using any chemicals on the fabrics as some can be a bit delicate but i do squirt a bit of detol around to kill any bugs and leave a nice clean smell.

Once its had a good airing the storage smell should disappear.

Im sure others will have other ways of cleaning it up well. I might even pick up a few tips myself.

  • A bucket of Zoflora and water and a scrubbing brush may help clean it up and make it smell better too.

Biological powder but check the fabric first ie that it wont fade. Best to use a brand one as the cheaper ones contain a lot of bleach.

Hose on jet. Worked for the stupid highchair that I rushed into buying without checking the covers come off.

  • I second getting the hope pipe out. I got a second hand buggy so I washed it outside in the garden and sprayed it with the hose pipe then left it to dry in the sun. Came up a treat.

When my ds was sick all over ours we got the pressure washer out and gave it a good blast - it came up lovely.

i often give my prams a really good scrub. i've got a lime green luna so it shows up all the marks, as does my urban detour in sherpa. but what i find works fantastic is washing powder. i use a baby one like fairy or similar. if the covers all remove then i remove them. otherwise i choose a really sunny day and scrub it and leave it out in the sun to dry. luckily i have two prams so if needed i can use the other one while one is drying.

buggys are generally very hard wearing and and good scrub and clean makes them look like new.
