MS Works Spreadsheet corrupted?

Don't want to go overboard with lots of detail, but I maintain a MS Works spreadsheet which is now 2200 lines long and 10 columns wide. I cross-balance it daily in every column, and it is always spot on.
Columns E and F produce the same net figure as Columns I and J. Column K holds the net totals of E and F and I and J on a daily basis. So column K should equal the net of E and F and I and J - which of course are the same.
They always have done before.
But now Column K shows an incorrect figure. I've deleted the offending rows and re-typed them. Saved and logged-out at each stage. I know what the figure is, but it is not visible anywhere. But it is there under the surface, hidden and apparently indestructible - because I just can't get rid of it.
I have had something similar before but a while ago.
Can these spreadsheets be irreversibly corrupted, and what causes it to happen? The solution is to start a fresh spreadsheet, but that is not what concerns me. I'm very intrigued, and of course it removes the confidence that you normally have in these things.
Any ideas anyone? Does it happen other than to me?

As it's a rolling formula have you tried copying a line that works and then "Paste Special" and select "Formula".
Yes!Can these spreadsheets be irreversibly corrupted
Usually deleting a cell IME, which makes a nonesense of the formula. :rolleyes:what causes it to happen
And "Yes" it happens to me, as well.0
