PSP Network Connectivity

Please, please, please help!!!
I've spent many hours now trying to download music to my PSP .... admittedly in WMA format.
I've managed to get to the stage of saving the WMA's onto the Memory Stick Pro Duo. I've managed to download Version 2.7 software (this is almost like a foreign language to me - if you'd asked me this morning to do this I'd have laughed!!).
I've now gone into Enable WMA Files (From Settings) and it's asking for Connectivity. I've gone through the various stages until it gets to SCAN or MANUAL .... so I've had the PSP connected to the PC via a USB (I've not got a wireless thingamy setup as yet), and it's saying no data available, which means that I can't enable the WMA (or connect to internet via. PSP etc.).
I can connect the PSP to the PC by selecting the USB thingamy on the Settings but as soon as I come out of there it no longer works.
Dunno, seems way complicated for a wee simpleton like me
any help that anyone can give will be enormously appreciated!!!
Thank you!!

Have you installed the 2.7 upgrade yet?
You need to copy it on to the memory card in the following path
PSP\GAME\UPDATE this is case sensitive so the folders need to be in uppercase the path of PSP\GAME should already be there you may need to create the UPDATE folder copy the downloaded file from your PC to the UPDATE folder then close the USB connection and go to Game and memory sticj and select the update. this will update the psp and enable the WMA playback.
You need to put your music files in to the MUSIC folder in PSP onthe PSP once they are in there they shoudl show up in the music section.
As for the network conectivity you requires a wireless network to be able to connect to the internet and get updates that way. myself I dont use the internet on my PSP I am still on version 1.5 of firmware/software becasue it has certain benifits over anything else
that I would like to keep. I have an mp3 player for music and a pc for internet access I just play games and movies on the PSP 0 -
Hello and thank you Little John.
Yes, I've done the 2.7 download - so I guess I need to get a wireless thingamy to be able to do the WMA and I've done the save of music in the MUSIC folder .... I guess then that if I do a conversion from WMA to MP3 (posted in another thread) that I can just do it in MP3.
Thanks again for your help

you have downlaoded the update have you coppied it to the psp and installed it?
check in the psp menu on the far left system and version I think it is it shoudl read 2.7 if it doesnt then the update hasnt happened you also need to have the psp plugged in tot he mains for the update to happen or atleast 2 battery bars left, plug it in, if the update fails you will have a £200 brick in your hand.
once the update has been done you should just copy the wma's to the music folder so I am told.0
