Going to uni in September, or have you been put off?

Of course I don't want her to misuse her education, but the government do not make it easy for middle income families. I was being sarcastic when I say having children and not working for 25 years, which is when the repay period ends.
She wants to study psychology and one uni actually said in their intro - 'if you want to earn decent money then you are in the wrong course!'
If you earn a fair wage say £23k a year you pay back £60 a month, not so bad , but how do you also maintain a mortgage to buy a house which in the south may well average at £250K?
I will be so proud if she goes, but I want it to be a good investment in her future and reading some of the other post from graduates, I'm not so sure.0 -
Hi Paul
I'm 39 and start university in September.
I'm going to university because it interests me, I may even get a job out of it. I don't see a problem with paying for something that is purely my choice and is of benefit to me. I've worked out how much debt I'll probably be in when I leave and it doesn't worry me. If I earn under £15000 I won't be paying anything back. Sounds ok to me, I've never earned that much before anyway. If I earn over that I'll be paying back the loans, again no problem, I'll still be earning more than I ever have.0
