Is this a reasonable partial refund request?

Hi everyone, I purchased a few kilos of Lego on eBay about 2 weeks ago, paid by paypal and picked it up today. Unfortunately after sorting through some of it (haven't finished yet) I have found quite a large amount of mega blocks (a cheaper plastic lego copy) - The listing stated Lego, so I was a little bit annoyed because obviously they hadn't sorted through it at all.

Anyway, on to my question. Just say I paid £20 for it, and there were 4 kilograms of a mix of Lego and Mega blocks. If there were 2 kilograms of Megablocks, would it be ok to ask for a half refund as half of what I paid for is not as described., as mega blocks is not worth a tenth of Lego.

If they then refuse the request, do you do an item not as described dispute or something else?

Counting on you guys as I'm no good when it comes to this stuff :o
Thanks. :)

Because you paid for it by paypal and then collected it, you are not able to open an item not as described dispute - a recent change in the T&C's that has been brought in to offer a small degree of protection against scam buyers.

The theory is that it should have been inspected upon collection.

Edit to Add - I found the original thread where it came to light on here - http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1806189

If you had paid Cash on collection you could have checked it when you picked it up and then made a decision if you wanted to part with your money

You could have, I suppose :o
But in this case, you would have to sort through all the lego to see how much of the other toy is in it - to then be able to weigh up whether you want to part with your money, I can't see the seller wanting me rooting through it in their house, for a long time - or leaving the building with it to search through and not disturb them.
Ok, I know I've done wrong and I don't have a leg to stand on now when it comes to a claim or anything, so thanks :D

You can always try and reason with the seller and see what happens. There is of course, if they are un co-operative, the option of a neg.
