DFS say I can't cancel!!!!

Hi everyone, sorry if this is in the wrong place but any help would be appreciated.
I purchased a sofa 2 days ago from DFS on finance with a £500 deposit. DFS have called today to say that they had to put the finance "through a different company" and would I come in and sign more documents, I have had no problems with credit in the past.
I smelled a rat (the woman on the phone was horrible), and told her that I wasn't happy about it and would like to cancel my order. She told me I have no right to cancel (I was under the impression I had 14 days). What's more they don't have a cancellation policy.
I m flabbergasted, no cooling off period, no right to cancel and I have to sign another loan agreement for a sofa I don't want!
Can they 'make me' sign it?
Can anyone help?
Thanks

I think you are confused with the distance selling regulations where you certainly do have 14 days to cancel and return any item after receipt of the goods.
AFAIK there is no right to cancel where goods are ordered in a store.
You may have a slim chance and grounds for cancellation due to DFS wishing to change the terms of your agreement. I would ask a solicitor or CAB for advice.
I know of others who have tried and unfortunately none were successful in obtaining refunds for goods ordered from DFS.
£500 seems like an awful lot to pay as a deposit. Normally only 10% is required.

just tell them that the Contract you signed is now null & void and you do not wish to sign up with the new finance company.
If they won't give your deposit back:

Your problem appears not to be issues with the finance, but that you changed your mind about wanting the sofa after agreeing the contract.
Unfortunately DFS can retain your deposit and, if they wish, pursue you for the balance owing due to your breach of contract.
As missile advises, there is no cooling off period except for distance purchases (phone or internet orders); I assume you placed your order in store. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

Disagree there. In normal circumstances the OP would be stuck, however DFS have broken the contract, NOT the OP (the OP signed up, now DFS are saying WE got it wrong, come back and sign something else) - which is fortuitous for the OP !0 -
IIRC it's quite normal for the finance to be arranged through "another company" other than DFS.
You custom order the sofa through DFS and they send the order through to the manufacturer. The deposit is to protect themselves in the event of a cancellation as they are then left with an unwanted sofa to shift.
I have vague recollections of the finance arrangement being with Capital One or another credit card company.0
