Currys/Faulty Nikon camera

My son bought a Nikon S230 digital camera which worked well for about 3 weeks then it started locking up, this happened several times but seemed to sort itself out.Untill the other day on holiday when on start up the screen came up with "lens error" and shut down, after restarting the camera the same message comes up again and again, we did get it to stay on and took a picture which turned out very blurry then the lens error message reappeared so basically it's bu99ered.
My question is can i take this back to Curry's for a exchange (if we can find the receipt) or do we have to send it off to Nikon?
The purchase was made about 6 weeks ago so well within the 12 guarantee.
Thanks.

Currys are liable under sale of goods act up to 6 months after that is up to you
You might have to settle for a replacement/repair or partial refund0 -
Currys I think, cos I'd reckon it's probably up to them to then send it back to wherever they got it from. I'm fairly sure they should just give you a new camera.0

Yep, take it back to store. As it's over 4 weeks since purchase though, it'll probably go for repair.Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
Now 20% cooler0 -
Legally, it is Currys that is responsible. However, if you can actually get them to agree with this then you're doing a better job than most people. They will invariably tell you to send it off to the manufacturer yourself and wash their hands of all liability.0
