i came to the site as i was googling looking for BT disconnection charges(i just had a man from talktalk at the door), anyway i came across a thread talking about reconnection fee's, when i moved into this house there was a working line in(i know the previous tenant) yet we were told we had to pay a reconnection fee(we are still paying as they set up a payment plan).
so i have 2 questions, can i change over(to save money) and what will the charge be(for ending contract early)
and should we have actually been charged a reconnection fee(as there was already a working line in)
thanks in advance

BT early termination fee will be the monthly charge x the no. of months left to run on your contract. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Thats not correct anymore. Bt now charge set charges to cancel rather than the whole monthly rental amount.
The charges still depend on what you have and how long is left on the contract but its less than the whole rental charges.0 -

Hi BT rep, its actually in my partners name so i dont know if you can look at it for me, could you tell me what the charges will be? i believe they were 18month
contracts and we have around 10months left.
we are paying £42.50 p/m phone(inc line rental/connectionfee/free landline anytime) and £24.50 p/m internet.
the man from talktalk says they can do it all for £21.74 p/m0
