Hi, hope someone can help me on here, I have an Indesit IS70C condensor dryer which I purchased in April of 2008 through my catalogue. I noticed as soon as it was delivered that it was noticeably nosier than my previous vented dryer, but I had heard that this is normally the case with condensors so thought nothing of it. My father has since purchased this exact same one and his is practically silent in comparison to mine, so I know now that the dryer is faulty, and has been since day 1. It doesn't seem to impact on the drying performance, it is just so noisy that sometimes I have to turn it off in order to watch TV in the lounge next to the kitchen where the machine is! Having spoken to Indesit today, they have stated that as the machine is over 12 months old and therefore out of warranty, they will only fix the problem if I pay for it, which for a dryer that cost me £180 less than 2 years ago I feel is totally unacceptable. The pumping mechanism seems to be the culprit, but I am not an engineer so I cannot say that the problem is for sure, all I know is that I have used the machine for about 4 hours a week in wet or cold weather for drying clothes, it still looks as fresh and clean as the day it was delivered, so nobody can say it is down to misuse or my own doing. How do I go about voicing my complaint in such a way as I don't sound like I am trying it on? I am never very good with this sort of thing and I am simply trying to get them to repair a defect on a product I would expect to last longer than 18 months before requiring a repair. Any ideas appreciated.

You need to contact the catalogue as they are the retailer and see what they have to say. Best you can hope for is a contribution towards repair as they will view that you have had over a years worth of use from it with no reported faults...worth a try.0

You will have to pay for a independent report to access whether the goods had an inherent fault so as to comply with the sale of goods act. If its proven that you will get reimbursed or should do for costs otherwise its small claims court
After 6 months the onus is on the consumer to proof that goods dont comply with the sale of goods act. A 12 month warranty is just an extra that manufacturers supply0 -
Noise levels are difficult to define as a fault, even though your dad has same model, his may have been made with a different componants. until an engineer has confirmed a fault you may find this hard to take forward.0
