Laptop getting hot

Hi
I replaced the fan and heatsink in my laptop about 12 month ago and its been great but over the last month its getting hotter and the fan is constantly running although it works perfectly well.
When i replaced the fan and heatsink i forgot to use thermal paste (oops) where the heatsink sits on the cpu.
Have i damged it for good? or is there still time to put a another fan and heatsink in with thermal paste and keep my fingers crossed it will last for another 12 months?
:D MOVE ALONG........ nothing to see here..!

Can't you remove the fan and heatsink, and then replace them - this time using thermal paste?

You run the risk of burning out the CPU chip otherwise...
