Not sure if it will get you anywhere (but may make you feel better) write a firm but polite letter to Ford customer services. At the end of the day the car may not have been ford direct (slight suspicion over why a car that new is not ford direct though?) but it is still ford, sold through a franchised outlet representing the brand. They may pursuade the garage to offer some kind of goodwill gesture even if its just a free service.
You could also try autoexpress - they have a section each week where they get involved in issues like this, and sometimes the thought of appearing in a national weekly motoring magazine can scare them a little into doing the right thing!0 -
Miser_maz wrote:Thirdly, because it was not a Ford-direct car, he has firmly placed the ball in my court saying what do I think he should do, saying a refund is out of the question. And that the only possibility is an exchange, but adding it would be treated like a part exchange, probably meaning he would base my vehicle price on a valuation, resulting in a financial loss for me. Although their website suggests a "30 day exchange programme", it becomes meaningless if it entails a valuation, which leaves them free to quote any price that suits them.
Perhaps a financial compensation is best? But I doubt they would agree to it, and then what amount would be acceptable for this kind of thing?
IMHO the amount of financial compensation that would be fair is the difference between what they'll give you for the car as part-ex and what you paid for it - that is the difference caused by having one more owner on the logbook!
Good luck, hope you get something out of them at least - would definitely try planeboy's advice!0 -
Just had another thought! Did you pay the deposit by credit card? if so you may have a claim against the credit card co, or if the car is on finance try contacting them as teh item is not as described.0

Thanks for replys again.
I didn't pay via credit card (although I almost did).
I think I will write to Ford as plane_boy has suggested.
Trading standards had said as Glasses guide do not mention number of owners when determining prices, it was impossible to put a financial figure on implications of 2 owners instaed of 1.
Anyway take it from me, no matter how reputable a dealer, never take his word for anything, underneath the smart suits they'er all Arfur Daleys!0 -
Have you tried your local press?
Any company hates bad publicity,so have a word with your local rag as well.
Ken.That's my mutt in the picture above.0 -
live and learn, as i have said before, never buy a car without seeing the log book first. buying a car from a dealer is no guarantee of good service, worse properly.0
