 I am so sorry to keep asking for help, but my OH can't do this stuff at all and I can see a long day of moods/depression leading to screaming/tantrums
OK problem this time is...he bought a Samsung blu ray dvd player yesterday and is trying (very trying!) to connect it up to the telly . We have a Sky box connected as well. When he connected it at first it worked ok, but then when he switches off the dvd player, he loses Sky. Everything is connected to the right sockets etc, he has checked about 59 times.
Also, the start-up guide tells you to select "input" on tv remote - but we don't know what "input" is !!

You really should try not to react with such extreme emotions to his efforts.

One thing that I found (to my considerable annoyance) was that the remote control for our original Sky box used some of the same transmitting codes as our Sony television. Pressing the "Sky" button on it would also switch the television to Programme 6, which was tuned to something else.
There was no way round this, so, eventually - and even though we watched Sky in RGB through a SCART socket - I had to settle for re-tuning the stored frequency for Programme 6 on the television to the Channel (38) on which the Sky box emitted its own RF signal: at least that kept things logical and prevented confusion.
The problem was cured when we bought a Sky+ box because its remote control uses different frequencies (presumably so that it does not interfere with a Sky box in the same room).
It's possible, therefore, that the difficulty you are experiencing is being caused by one or more of your remote controls also activating commands on another device (which may include the television).
Expressed more simply, it could be that when your husband presses "Sky" or "On/Off" on the Sky remote control, it also tells the television to switch to something other than the Programme number or input source (e.g. SCART) that you use for watching Sky. So, check that out.
For all the while that we used a Sky box and that Sony television, I resorted to switching the Sky box on and off manually, with the button on the front of it. (Which is how you should test whether this is what's causing your problem).
It's a powerful argument in general for buying kit that all comes from the same manufacturer - but obviously you can't do this with some satellite receivers.
Hope you sort it out in time for a happy Bank Holiday dinner.
Don't laugh at banana republics. :rotfl:
As a result of how you voted in the last three General Elections,
you'd now be better off living in one.

Perhaps it would be both politic and productive if you were to leave him to his electronic travails while you sit down and read a recipe book. :EasterBun :kisses2:
