My husband and I are both 3 years into IVA's. The reason we went into debt in the first place was that my husband was signned off work with depression, he has now been off work for 7 years. My husband has been accepted onto a university course starting in September, our problem is how we are going to pay for this....Does anyone know if you are allowed to get a student loan whilst under an IVA or whould this be classes as a breach of the IVA contract?
I have alredy spoken to our PayPlan (who we have our IVA's through) and was very disapointed by the response. The person I spoke to sounded like she didn't have a clue about what she was talking about, she eventiually decided that we would not be able to get a student loan but she gave me no faith whatso ever that the response is actually correct.
It would seem such a shame for my husband if we can not afford for him to accept his university place just because we can not get a student loan. If we do not start to make positive steps towards our future we will come out of the IVA in 2 years time with the same bleak futured outlook that we have now.
