When you say you haven't found anything 'great' can you quote examples of what rate you consider not great given your criteria?

    Have you checked www.moneyfacts.co.uk ?

We are in similar position although not as much, its the equity from our house sale £93k, and we are in process of buying somewhere but it may take 3 months until we need to use the money.
Therefore we need instant access also, but I could only really see the ones paying around 3% so is that good rate or not??
Read the link on here and will check out the moneyfact one too.

  • If you only have 3 months then you may have a problem it took me 10 weeks to open a natwest e savings account.

In the current interest rate climate, you should be aiming for a rate around the 3% mark.

Most instant access accounts pay less than 1%.

The Coventry First Class Postal account at 3.25% gross monthly might be OK for some of it as a joint account and montly interest. As you see the access is limited but still almost instant.
  • Anymore guys ? prefer internet accounts
    thanks
  • Have a look at Alliance & Leicester's and ING's accounts! I did a post in my diary about these recently when I overhauled all my savings.
