Problem Loading Some Threads

I had this problem once before (a few months ago). When I had my CP preferences set to 40 posts per page, I found that a lot of times (not all), the page would load approx ¾ of the posts, then 'hang' without finishing loading the whole thread. I cured this by dropping my preference down to 20 posts per page. Everything has been OK since then untill we switched to the new forum.
I'm finding once again that approx 50% of the time, threads are not loading fully (about ¾ of replies load, then it 'hangs'). I'm having to refresh the page to get it loaded fully. My preference is still set to 20 posts per page.
Any suggestions? I'm using Firefox. Please don't suggest using IE as this is not an option AFAIC.
