2 TV's same fault??

Hi i purchased 2 Goodman's 19" flat screen TV's from Comet about 18 months ago. They both have developed the same faults, they dont hold the signal and they wont change channel or if they do you get the picture from one channel and the sound from the other.
What should i do? Go to Comet or contact Goodmans?
How long should TV's last surely more than 18 months? they do not get used alot one is in the dinning room and the other in the bedroom, so neither one is in constant use?

Try searching Martin's articles for 'Sale of Goods Act' (Search the site using the green button top right). Your contract is with Comet but you could try approaching the manufacturer if they are more helpful (as is often the case, I think Comet are one of many retailers who try to fob you off...).

Under EU law you are covered for 2 years, and even longer under SOGA.

The EU Consumer Rights Directive sets a minimum 2 year limit on claims by consumers for faulty goods; in the UK this legislation is enforced under the Sale of Goods Act and the limit is actually 6 years.

Where goods are found to be faulty within 6 months of purchase, there is a presumption that they were defective at the time of sale and a full refund or replacement are normally offered. Many retailers extend this period to 12 months. However, the right to a refund or replacement is not automatic and faults due to mis-use or damage are not counted as defects.

If goods that are over 12 months old are found to be faulty because they were defective in manufacture, the consumer is entitled to a range of potential remedies which may include replacement but also repair or partial refund depending on the circumstances. Yep really fobbed me off!! I went in and spoke to them and they told me they would call me the next day, they never called so i called them and left another message which was not returned! So im now chasing them!! Arghh dont know what else to do!
