Bought some DVD's this morning - a bargain probably about £20 less than it normally sells on ebay (due to seller listing it badly)
I paid instantly through paypal, the seller than emails me and tells me that she actually sold the item through her local paper and did try to amend her ebay listing but it didn't work. She then said if I would match the same price she sold it for in her paper she would sell it to me - £9 more (not including postage), after another email to clarify whether it would include postage she said she would half the postage for me.
Anyway its still works out quite cheap admittedly. But is she even allowed to do this, and do you think she is just saying this to make some more money from me?
Cheers

Yes, she probably realised she had listed it badly and when the item sold it wasn't for the amount that she wanted so she just made up this story to try and get more money.
You haven't paid the extra £9.00 have you?-->♥<-- Sugar Coated Owl -->♥<--

No not yet, I'm still undecided about what to do - only thing is even with the extra £9 and now she had reduced the postage it works out about £5.50 more than I originally paid - so its actually still quite a bit of a bargain..0

So is she saying that if you don't pay the extra £9.00 then you can't buy the item? If so, I would report her to eBay because that is definately not allowed.-->♥<-- Sugar Coated Owl -->♥<--

Well I think its more a case of you can have it at this price or you can't have it at all. I don't get the impression she is going to open up a dispute etc if I decide not to. (Because obviously she would lose) If her story is real - then she has got a sale either way - to me or the buyer from the paper - I guess she would rather stick with me incase I leave bad feedback.0

If she listed the dvds for sale on ebay, why advertise them in the local paper at the same time?
If she has sold them via the local paper, how come she is still able to offer them to you?
What it boils down to is, are you still happy with the price? If not, report her to ebay. If you are still willing to pay the new price, do so but I personally would leave a neutral feedback explaining the price was increased.
Just my opinion

Surely that defeats the whole purpose of an 'auction'?-->♥<-- Sugar Coated Owl -->♥<--

Yeah okay, thanks for the advice!
The price is still quite good - I just don't like the thought that she is trying to pull a fast one.
Cheers for the advice!0 -
Well I wrote a long post about this, which disappeared when the board went down. Anyway 1) you can't force her to sell, but you can open a non performing seller dispute. 2) Even if her story is true, do you really want to deal with someone who by her own admission would happily mistreat the other buyer? 3) If you do this, it sounds as if you'll be completing outside of ebay, with the loss of protection that implies. If I were you I wouldn't go for it. If there's anything wromng with them you're not going to have much comeback, and I doubt she'd be very helpful.

If I were you I would ask them to return the paypal money and tell them to put it where the sun doesn't shine................Avoid them."Success is not to be measured by the position someone has reached in life, but the obstacles he has overcome while trying to succeed." Booker T. Washington
