I have changed supplier from Scottish Power (as my gas went up so much) to London Energy for both gas and elec. They set up DD for £21 for each. I have been with them since Feb and I have just rung them with my reading as I do not want to get estimated bills. My gas consumption seems high. £94.09 for the period 13/2 to 24/4??
I leave my water on 24 hours as I do not have a combi boiler and this way we always have water for showers etc. Would it be cheaper to only have it on set times or is it true that you then have to pay more for it keeps having to boost up?
I have my heating set to come on in the morning and the evening and all dy at weekends I am trying to keep the thermostat to just 20 degrees but I am prob a bit soft and its a new build house (5 years old) and I think newer houses are a little colder than old houses.
Is there anyway of cutting my gas bill basically?

    Hi mae

I read on energywatch.org.uk thatturning your thermostat dow one degree can save 10% off your heating bill. Turning it down a bit might be part of the answer.

Heating up water does require more energy than keeping something at a particulat temperature. It's all to do with specific latent heat / heat capacity, but there my memory of physics is tenuous. maybe someone else will have a more complete explanation

Have a look at this site as well, it could help bring down the bill
