Closing an Abbey current account

I have an Abbey current account that I don't use anymore so would like to close the account for completeness.
Having never closed an account before, what is the procedure?
Do I just walk into the bank and say I want to close the account? Can it be done on the phone/online?
There is no money in the account.
Thanks for any advice.

Walk into branch, ask to close the account. They'll ask for ID (Abbey are useless, so they probably wont), and then ask you to sign to say the account is closed. That's it. Cut up/give back cards, cheque books etc.
