AntiSpywareBot. has DISAPPEARED from computer

Installed on computer November last year and paid £30.00 for AntiSpywareBot,RegCleaner,ActiveProtection. Really pleased with product and haven't encountered any problems until now. Normally do a daily scan but noticed on Friday that the Icon had disappeared from toolbar. Went to desktop and clicked open and the following appeares on my Windows Installer 'The Feature You Are Trying To Use Is On Network Resource That Is Unavailable.' I'm certainly no computer expert but I know that I haven't done anything to remove it. Have sent email to support@antispywarebot.com yesterday but told to expect a 2 day delay in getting response. Just wondered if anybody else has experienced a similiar problem with this product. Did wonder if they'd gone bust but their web site is still up and running.

Are you running any other security software? It may have been identified as malicious and thus was removed for your own safety. pcthreat.com seems to have a pretty bad reputation too...

Hi, have been doing some investigating and I've discovered on my McAfee Detection log the following information: FakeAlert-GM (Trojan). Process C:\Program files AntispwareBot.exe. Process Description AntispywareBot Cleaner.
Repaired/removed.

I'm very naive on these matters but I thought Antispware.Bot was there for my protection? I'm I better off scraping it and relying on McAfee and AntiMalware?
Thanks in advance for any further advice.

Though McAfee is almost universally derided, its security suite is supposed to be a pretty competent all-in-one solution. Provided it actually works as advertised, you shouldn't need anything else.

Is the OPs AntispywareBot the fake antispyware programs marketed as a legitimate security application?

If you paid £30 for it did you use a cc card?

If so have you noticed any problems with your card?

There are far better antivirus programmes than McAfee, if you are looking for free ones then try Avira or Avast.

Had no problem with c.c. and this is the 1st problem I've had with Antispybot.
Has been running alongside McAfee with no problems.

I really dunno why people pay for AV, antispyware or Firewalls.

Free ones are just as good for the single computer.

OK some of the stuff will have come with the computer but once you have to pay to renew then ditch it and get free stuff.

For me:

Comodo as a Firewall.
Avira as AV
Malwarebites, Superantispyware, Spybot are all great free stuff and all you need.

None of these HOG your system like the paid for suites do.

Just go to Filehippo or other similar download and install.

IIRC you have to use special programmes to entirely delete Norton and maybe Mcaffee but IMO it's well worth the small amount of effort required.

I'm no techie.
It's your money. Except if it's the governments.

AntispywareBot is a fake programme, it leads you to believe you have an infected computer and asks for payment to remove those false results it has put on itself, the programme also includes viruses itself

There is plenty of info about it if you google.

Sorry for being dense but how don't understand how it's a 'fake programme'. It's never led me to believe I've had an infected computer. I'd read favourable reviews on this particular product and that's why I purchased it in the first place. I've been 100% happy with it and had no problems until last week.
