Advice sought to ease my worries

Hi all,
Basically i purchased a pair of Lacoste trainers 2 months ago for my girlfriend from ebay which were advertised as genuine for 30 pounds.
They did not fit her and sat in the box in our wardrobe for 2 months until last week i decided to resell them on ebay...........they sold for 23 pounds.
I have been on ebay for over 2 years and only ever sold 3 items, but have a possitive 71 feedback through purchases.
Anyway the buyer of the trainers said they were fake,i disagreed(i still have the link etc from buying them from a powerseller on ebay). The buyer took the trainers to Trading standards, who sent an email confirming they are fake.Apparently they also sent pictures to Lacoste.I have told the buyer they can keep and destroy the trainers as i do not want them back and said i will refund the money.Cant do this yet as paypal are reviewing the case.
However my question is,even though i was mugged 2 months ago..............can i get into serious trouble over innocently reselling a pair of trainers, which i have offered to refund?
Please help me if you can.

I think you'll probably be ok.
If you're worried, send the details of the original seller to Trading Standards - I bloody would.
And for the future - if someone says you've sold them a fake, and you bought that item on ebay... they're highly likely to be right. My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
Don't worry, you can't get into trouble for it.0

Thanks for the replies thus far,i feel a tad better.
But................am i to assume nothing will come of it?
Or should i expect a 'ticking off' letter from Trading standards?
Has anyone had similar misfortune to me.
Sorry to ask further.0 -
Nothing will come of it at all. Even the original seller that was selling loads of them would have to work hard to get in any actual trouble as they could simply claim ignorance that they were fake. You have nothing to worry about what so ever.0
