Sorry been out all day - what we do here is peel the marrow, cut in half length ways and scoop out the seeds, then cut in into approx inch thick strips so it ends up a semicircle shape. Also I use the water ive cooked the marrow in to make the gravy.0 -

My Mum in law used to stuff Marrow with mushrooms and tomatoes and bake in the oven... its not got a lot of taste if I remember.. but beetroot are so tasty when freshly cooked.. just twist off the leaves , (don't cut them as they will bleed) and wash and boil in an old saucepan till they are tender, I love to eat them with salad just as they are... but I am sure there are other ways to eat them..#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

Stuffed marrow with minced beef.
Make up a bolognase type sauce with the mince. Doesn't really matter what you put in it, but I usually do onion, mushrooms, celery, lots of baby tomatoes and mince, and some tomato puree. Cook in saucepan for a few mins until browned, and veg softened.
Peel marrow, then cut into segments, and scoop out the soft middle bits of each segment. You should be left with three or four donut shaped marrow rings. Put them in a pyrex dish, scoop the mince into each marrow ring and cover with foil.
Cook for about 40-50 minutes on about gas mark 6. The marrow should be soft. Take out of oven, sprinkle with grated cheese.
Enjoy!0 -
Hi toolittletime,
I love stuffed marrow, split it length ways, scoop out the seeds and fill with HM bolognese sauce or chilli. Bake on a tray in the oven until the marrow is cooked then top with grated cheese and pop back into the oven until the cheese is beginning to melt. Serve with salad and new potatoes.
There are lots more ideas on this thread:

I did the search as well and Bone Marrow really does come up, not that I didn't beleive you its just odd.
Anyway, I cooked a marrow for the first time a week or so ago, the marrow was surposed to be a courgetteI've got another one to use now
Its abit of a long winded affair, well the recipe I found was anyway, you have to cook the marrow once without the filling and then again with the filling. Anyway its not too bad but its the filling which makes it.
These a few recipes on the BBC website.
Beetroot, agree with tanith, you boil them until tender. It can take a while and do watch them as they boil long enough for the pan to boil dry, then you have a red stained pan. I've got one and its now used for boiling beetroot :rotfl: Leave to cool and have some now and freeze the rest, then just take out as much as you expect to use at a time.0 -

Hi Linda,
If you look towards the top right hand side of the main Old Style board, there is a link to 'search this forum' which will only search this board rather than the whole chat forum.
If you click on that it will give you an option to do an advanced search.
Go to Advanced search, type in your keyword eg 'marrow' and click on 'titles only' then click 'search now' and it will bring up all Old Style threads with the word Marrow in the title.
For more help with searching there is a guide in the Welcome to Old Style - PLEASE READ ME BEFORE POSTING - contains info on searching sticky thread at the top of the Old Style board.

Hi!
My two pence's worth
I peel and cube my marrow and chuck it in with pretty much anything to use to bulk stuff out. for example - lasagne, stew, pasta sauces and so on. My OH doesn't really like it so I'm getting good at hiding it in sauces!
I tried beetroot cubed, drizzled with oil, balsamic and garlic and baked till soft the other day and it was scrummy.Currently studying for a Diploma - wish me luck
