Help! Can't work out the oven dial symbols!

Hi there
I've just moved into a new rented house and I can't work out the oven dial symbols. There's no manufacturers name or model number or anything anywhere on the oven!
Can anyone tell me what these symbols mean? I know the 2 on the left are for the grill (becuase of the squiggly line!), but I don't know the difference between them
Any help would be greatly appreciated

well on mine the 2 straight lines is the main conventional oven, can't help more than that i'm afraid!People seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

The symbols for the grill,(that you know), are, top one full heat, bottom one half/reduced heat, most grilles have two heat levels, you should see the flame go smaller when swapping from high to low, similar to ours which says in the manual "do not use the knob to control flame between the two points". Look inside the door(s) or around the rim for a plate giving the make/model. Then google for the instruction manual. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Personally, I'm reading it working clockwise from top right:
1. Top and bottom element (probably what you'd use for most normal oven cooking)
2. Bottom element only (I'm guessing ideal for slower cooking dishes)
3. Grill only (cheese on toast)
4. Grill and top element (crisping stuff whilst cooking it)
Its also not fan assisted, as there would be the option of having the fan (with an appropriate fan symbol). In my oven there are the three elements - the grill and top element, and then a bottom element that is concealed under the casing.0 -
I'd hope they don't see any flames given its electric! (note the dial to the left that is the temperature in Celsius)

Thanks very much!!!! :beer:0 -
As mentioned earlier, your best bet is to try and find a model number then google for the manual.
But my oven looks fairly similar to yours. It's got 2 grill settings, one heats up the whole grill element, the other only powers the inner element - effectively the middle part of the element, so you're not wasting electricity heating the whole width if you've only got a small dish to grill. Not sure if this makes sense, but it's about the best I can describe it :-)0
