Aardvark Kennels London Grrr

Options
:mad:So my uncle bought a dog from this place and from what I can tell they are a puppy farm.

Have numerous breeds of dogs and charge varying prices depending on colour.

He paid £450 for a "pedigree dog" and said it could be KC registered later err no dont thinks so.

Not only that he has paid another £450 in vets fees cause the dog is so sick.

What I dont understand is why people pay these prices when parents havent had the genetic tests etc he is such an idiot

I wish people would stop buying from these S**t holes the poor pups are not well treated and the owner is claim he gets them from wales

Just wanted to rant a

Aw thats terrible! I am a registered KC breeder, and i know i can only breed a litter a season or else they wont register my pups. So he has shot him self in the foot there because from the sounds of it hes getting more than a litter per season! Have you reported them? I would have a look and see if you can report them to someone, maybe the kennel club? Just say they are claiming there puppies are KC registered and they acctuly arent.
Theres 2 types of horse owner, a person who owns a horse and a horsey person ;)
  • I am looking into reporting them,

They gave them a pedigree and 2 of the dogs had Kennel Club numbers so going to look into that.

Its just awful they told him a 7 week pup only needs fed 3 times a day ( the puppy only lookes 4 weeks old and is now 10 weeks) the kennel said keep him in until 16 weeks which will mean he isnt socialised.

My uncle is sayin KC isnt important as he is only a pet, but it you are buying a puppy it should have all health tests, or certanly shouldnt be the same price as a dog from a decent breeder!!!

I feel so sorry for all of these puppies

Yes of course! I wouldnt be suprised if it is 4 weeks old! Why keep him until hes 16 weeks, i think they are trying to sound proffesional if you ask me! Do you know if hes had any jabs, livershunt test, wormed or de-fleaed?

  • Rachiee, as you stated you are a breeder and from your replies you seem like a reputable breeder. As myself and my OH want to get a German Shepard, (once we move from our apartment into a house) what would be the best way of buying a Dog that is not from a puppy farm. We have looked at: https://www.pets4homes.co.uk, this however would you say that this is an ideal site to look at or are there any other ways of buying a dog?

We are also considering a rescue dog?

The best way is to go through a pedigree dog site such as http://www.champdogs.co.uk/ i am registered on here and i know that if i didnt have a KC number i couldnt get on here, and also KC only let you breed 1 litter per season which means all the puppies on this site will be KC registered and for the breeder to advertise them on this site a 5 generation pedigree has to be shown and a affix and kc number. Make sure mam is around when you go and pick up a puppy. Also they should be vaccinated, wormed, de-flead and come with some sort of insurance, its usually 4 weeks worth so you are covered for 4 weeks after taking pup home. Just look on the main page were it says Puppy Register and then List of puppies by breed and you should see some in a few different areas. Hope i helped :D

German Shepherd's are prone to real problems with their back legs, so have a look at the parents, ask about hip score tests, etc, make sure pups are wormed and vaccinated, etc, etc. If you can, take someone knowledgeable with you to help you make a decent decision...I'm sure there must be a GSD association somewhere, so contact them and see if they can recommend any breeders? Always best to go through word of mouth!

I personally don't have extensive experience with GSD's, but at a livery yard where I used to work, the owner had 3 - 2 were absolutely lovely, but one wasn't (understatement), so again, look at parents and their personalities!
  • The prices are appauling

over £400 for labs - when I had my litter of labs they were £350 and mother a field trial winner and father was worked daily and one of the best breeders in the country sells for £500!!!

They claim to have given 1st jab but the pups need the next 2? no worming record the dog has been so ill its un real sounds like parvo but is better now its on atibiotics and they are awaiting the tests results.
They are trying to sound like pros but they go on about this puppy pack they give for free and its just a Eukanba bag of food - that you can get from Eukanuba anyway and no insurance. My pups went away with 3kg of the food they were eating a puppy bowl feeding sheets worming records a contract, piece of vetbed from the one they were sleeping on and a toy and all of the paper work.

Sweetstudent - also try the breed clubs and the Kennel Club register.

Puppy farms will have several types of dogs of several ages. You wont get to see the parents it will look spotless and clean and prob only be one or 2 on display and they will use sales tactics o you. They will have no health tests and GSDs are prone to leg problems so need hip scores .

    http://www.germanshepherdrescue.co.uk/ for rehoming

    http://www.gsdbreedcouncil.co.uk/

http://www.the-kennel-club.org.uk/services/public/club/breed.aspx?id=5106 a list of all they clubs the KC has details of

    Good luck

I have had my German Shepherd for 7 years and her hips seem to be fine! She does however suffer from arthritis in the her knee joint. A common sign of old age. GSD's can also be prone to ear infections.
I paid £250 for her. I would advise to look at the !!!!! more than the sire - I went to go and see my dog at a week old and the mother did not bat an eye when I was near her pups! There was however another !!!!! there and she was showing the teeth, growling and was just aggressive. My friend had a dog from her litter and ended up giving her up as at 7months, she started to show this kind of temperment. Same sire as mine just a different !!!!!!
