Hi,
Forgive me for such a broad request - but I hope you'll forgive me
We're a family of four - two adults and two children who'll be 12 & 10 next August, which is when we plan to go (argh school holiday prices!). We were looking at camping in Italy, which would come in at about £1500 for accommodation and travel down by car, but my champagne tastes on a lemonade budget have kicked in ! Hubby and I adopted our two children, and they have very challenging needs and I think that after 14 years together we could probably do with some pampering - and staying in a hotel gets me out of washing up ...
Having never been abroad on holiday since 1998 (when we married in the Dom Rep), apart from camping twice in France, I'm at a real loss as to even where to start looking for a holiday abroad. I don't want to go on holiday to someplace that my 20 year old stepsister might go to either. I'm looking for a warm, beach, sea holiday for 4 of us to chill, relax, and most of all have some fun time together. I don't want to pay for a second room, so we need to be all in the same room.
I'm guessing price will rise substantially from camping in Italy - but ideally, I'd like to keep it to within £2300 - £2800 all in. Is this possible? Or should I just stick with Italy and take my rubber gloves?
Thanks, FF x

Hi FF
I am not a fan of all inclusives in Europe as it restricts you to eating in the hotel or if you decide to go out for a meal then paying twice! - Yorkshire lass here and tight:D - Have you had a look at Greece? For your budget you could get a self catering apartment - breakfast in the room - local bought roll for lunch and then eat out every night at a different restaurant.
The Greek food is very nice and not too highly spiced so the kids wont have a problem with it. Plenty of 'Brit' stuff on the menu's as well so if they are fussy eaters there will always be something they can have.
We love Crete and go every year for one of our holidays to Stalis. Its a nice, friendly resort with a lovely beach and safe sea - you have to walk for a good distance to get any depth of water - very family friendly with plenty of choice for evening meals.
We always use Olympic for our Greek/Cyprus holidays and have found them always to be very good. By very good I mean not always in your face trying to sell you something
Hope this helps.Mags - who loves shopping0
