Hi
I am having problems in setting up my router for broadband so other people in the household can use broadband. I have 10mb broadband with ntl on my pc and my mum wants to use the net via the router on her laptop. I have purchased the Belkin 54 router. I plug the router into the pc and the modem in the router etc and the setup disk lets me go through all the steps of setting it up...however at the end of the installation it fails to find an internet connection....yet all the required lights on both the modem and the router suggest that there is a connection to the net there and everything is working....but it isnt...any ideas?
Many thanks

Somthing that always stops a cable connection wrking is that you need to configure the router from the pc that has been using the connection directly before and clone the mac address of the pc to the router. Cable access is restricted by mac address. once this is done reboot your cable modem and things should start working.0

I would place a rather large bet on it being your pc firewall.I take it you're using wireless with this router rather than just plugging your pcs in?0

try it with out your firewall (belkins got one do not worry put always us a software one has well when you have config it )and if it do's work you have to put your net work address in the software firewall eg 192.168.2.1 to 192.168.2.6 so it now you are using a net work and you will have to set the net work up using net work wizard in windows and turn of windows firewall you do not need it at all ,are you using norton firewall ??
last resort
restart the modem and give it a few hours and if not still works ring belkin (last resort )they will talk you few it manualy and there good ,they got mine working on telewest it took about five minsthere or their, one day i might us the right one ,until then tuff0 -
if all else fails ring the tech support line and they will talk u through it

Yeah I go along with contacting belkin support if you are still stuck. They may be based overseas(India?) but they do try their damned hardest to get your problem fixed. Two other plusses are that you can call them freephone and they are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.0
