Nice to save.

I have stayed there twice - both times using a special deal through the Daily Mail/Mail on Sunday which was £30 per person per room per night for min three nights. Worked out great as it was just me there.

It's a nice enough hotel with a good restaurant...extremely convenient for the M8.

Have to admit I am surprised about the parking - last time I stayed there it was difficult to find a spot when coming back at night - it didnt occur to me it was people who had left their car their longterm.

You havent given any dates - someone might be able to help if we knew when you were looking at going.

    We are staying Saturday 27.5.06.

Is the hotel within reasonable walking distance of the Terminal as the hotel only seems to supply a courtesy bus 5 am onwards and we need to check in at 4.30am

It's round the corner from the terminal but you cannot walk there (someone correct me if you managed it). Once you set foot on the busy dual carriageway between the two, it states it is owned by, I think, the Civil Aviation Authority, or something similar and you cant walk on it. I tried to find several routes on foot and never did. If you could walk it would take you under 5 mins.

I thought the courtesy buses ran 24 hours - anyway, I'd jump in a taxi as it would take less than two mins to get there.

What about the travelodge - they have a family room for £45 plus parking free on the night of your stay then £3 pounds per night.I think it is within walking distance.

There's a Premier Inn next door to the Ramada at the airport.

Have a look here - rooms are from £47.

I dont particulary want to get a Taxi to take me 2 mins to the terminal. Perhaps I should contact the hotel and find out if you can walk when there is no available courtesy bus.

The premier travel inn is £51, there is no mention of parking on their website so I would probably have to arrange this seperatly. Can you walk to the terminal from this hotel??

The Travellodge looks ok, but where did you find the info that it cost £3 a night to park there? cant see any info regarding this on the travelldge website

I wish I could draw you a little map to explain better! :)

The Ramada and the Premier Lodge are both in a kind of close halfway down a busy dual carriageway. The dual carriageway has a barrier all the way down the middle. The terminal is a minutes walk on the other side of the dual carriageway. When you walk to the edge of the close, there are signs saying No Right of Way for pedestrians. There;s no pavement anyway, and because of the middle barrier, you'd have to walk on the road to get to the roundabout at the top to get round to the terminal. The roundabout is the one leading off of the M8 motorway. You really dont want to be doing that in the dark with your kids at 4:30am! Thats why I suggested a taxi which has to take you down the other side of the dual carriageway, turn round and back up and round.

You are right, best thing is to ring them, see what they say - but I dont recommend walking under any circumstances.

we always use the holiday inn express...its usually around £90 (2 adults 2 kids) and includes 15 days parking. You also get breakfast...which is great if you have an early check in....check in and head back for a nice relaxed breakfast before your flight. Its only a few minutes walk from check in down a little pathway...no dangerous roads to cross!
you leave the car in the carpark and collect your keys from reception on your return. The car is taken to a pound while you are away.
