I know Etch often posts these comps plus the answer but unsure if this has been missed.I've searched and can't find any dupe.
Help with answers would be good though:D

The questions
1 What is the name of the river? .............. RIVER LEA
2 Who was the fourth king?................... King Harold II

I can't give a 'money back guarantee' on these answers, but after googling, asking jeeves and wikipedia I am fairly confident (99%) of these answers.
1 RIVER LEA (see Etch's post (No 7) makes much more sense than mine).
1 River Itchen (28 miles long and incorporates Bosham (home of gunpowder since 1573) where the 4th King is allegedly buried) (IGNORE)
2 King Harold II (2nd son of Gytha and allegedly buried in Bosham)
Clues taken from the Times comp. text. Maybe someone can confirm 100% based on the above info.
We could all learn a little something from the weather. It pays no attention to criticism.0 -

Snap.
Don't press expired yet just in case Times have made a mistake. We could all learn a little something from the weather. It pays no attention to criticism.0 -
Yes I got the same. Could just be sloppy coding as the comp is supposed to end 02/09/09 and instead has been written as 02/02/09. Just a thought

Hi there, I've only just got round to looking at this week's competition. I agree with The Plush Doormat that King Harold II Godwinson is the fourth king. However I reckon that the River Lea (or Lee) fits best with the other clues:
The Lee Navigation is 28 miles long.
Isabella of France, daughter of Jeanne de Champagne, died at Hertford Castle.
John McAdam, inventor of tarmac, lived in Hoddesdon.
Rye House, of which only the gatehouse remains, was where the Rye House Plot to assassinate Charles II was planned.
Anthony Trollope wrote The Claverings, featuring Florence Burton, whilst living at Waltham Cross.
Waltham Abbey is said to be the burial place of King Harold.
Can't help with the other problems: I never enter the comp myself.0 -

There must be a computer glitch at their end.maybe give it a few days and see what happens.
I have the Times Travel Section at the side of me at the moment and comp is all correct.According to it we have until Wednesday to enter.
Just to speed things up I'll email them and see if they can shed light on the fault.Until then it might be as well to cease posting the fault on submission to here.
I'd agree with Etch on the River Lea as I recall it being on Griff Rhys Jones river programme a few weeks back.He even stopped off at the gunpowder factory.0 -
Sorry to bump - just to let you know it's working OK now.Want to win this year: 7 day holiday, big ITV cash win, new TV, mobile and funpod! Oh, and new kettle, in black please!0
