OMG amazons fees

Just tried to list something on amazon for just over £35 plus £2.65 postage. well by the time theyve taken there fees etc i was down to less than £30 including the postage cost!!

Think im sticking to play.com and ebay whose fees now seem much more reasonable :j

I thought Play's fees were high as well, although I haven't used them as a seller for ages as I had notification issues with them.

Yes, Amazon are expensive, of the £2.76 a buyer pays for a 1p book a non pro seller actually only gets £1.44 for instance!

Play take 10% plus 50p for the sale of the goods

If you dont spend the money you make on play and transfer it to the bank they take 5% of what you transfer

I did the sums and worked out that even with having to pay to post the item myself on play i would be a few quid better off.

Im going to to stick it on ebay now and see if it sells. Its quite a rare item and i cant see that theres been one listed in ebay on current or completed.

It is a good idea ot try ebay whilst there is a free listing week on. You can put a sensible start price and see what happens without it costing the earth. Just watch those FVFs though if you are a private seller.

thats what i figured i would do, as its free to list might as well give it a go on ebay first, if not they can just sit on play.com until they sell.

Ive worked out what the FVF will be if they end at around the same as they go for on amazon and play etc to make sure its worth putting them on ebay.

Even though Amazons fees are high. Some things you can get far better prices than you woold on ebay or anywhere else. So it can be worth selling there

As you said though it puts ebays fees into perspective

i will try them on ebay first, ive put them on minimum i want for them and will see how i go, at the end of the day if they dont sell its not cost me anything and i will put them on play for a couple of weeks and then try Amazon for any thats left in October.

I dont think ive sold on amazon before. Not that i can remember.

Be carefull of Play.com fees if you select the option to sell to Europe - the exchange rate they use is shocking !

Free to list on ebid.net too with 3% FVFs, but in need of buyers. I've been putting flyers in my ebay parcels to tell my buyers about it.
