Don't know if it's a recent thing or not, but am part of a boxing club and before any of our boys can take part in an official fight, they have to go to the doctor for some pretty stringent tests. The results along with registration fee are sent to main board who then issue each boy with their own booklet. This is used to manually record each fight, who they fought, what club the opponent was from, what type of fight (competition/tournament) and the result. Each record is initialled by the official at the tournament/competition. Is there any way you can find your dad's card? You could then reprint all details in a large word doc and frame them together with a pic of your dad (in the one frame, much like an Ali poster I saw). It could be a recent photo with a caption underneath saying something like 'You've still got it', it would hinge on getting the booklet though.
An idea for your anniversary, you could make a mini 'chequebook', by printing out personalised 'IOUs' cutting them to size and stapling them neatly, then covering with a little ribbon to hide the staples (examples of IOUs would be: IOU a footrub, IOU a trip to the fridge in the middle of the night for a cold drink without complaining, etc, or my personal favourite, IOU the right to give me an hour long massage (wishful thinking I guess :rotfl:). It would look really cool if you could photoshop a pic of you both as the background. You could make the cheques as sentimental or as funny as you like, and it would only cost you the ink.
Sorry the post is so long, hope it was a bit of help, K

the voucher book your talking about i was already planning on doing one anyhow but love your massage idea, thats definatley going in!!!

my dads gf has just booked a last minute 2week holiday for them and they go tomorrow so that will give me a fortnight to snoop through all his stuff (ooh what fun ill have) and pull all his boxing stuff out make photocopys etc and replace it. i will look for the booklet although i dont remember seeing anything like it, but its been a few years since ive seen it all. so maybe

now i cant decide whether to do a big poster or a photobook? what do you think? he has a scrapbook atm holding it all but its quite messy. so it could be a smartened up version? or he is quite vain so would like a big poster all about him lol!
what do u reckon would be best?
  • For stepdad as he was in the army, what about Trench Art, my DH was in and have got him two small pieces from EBay, which he loves. Very unusual but the thought that someone else made them in a trench during the war is quite moving

  • carlsberggal ive never heard of trench art before! i think my stepdad would like the idea of this. a lot of the stuff is smoking related (which he is very anti!) on there atm so i shall keep looking to find anything that would appeal to him. thats a great suggestion

Sorry I haven't checked the thread before now, haven't been anywhere near a comp for anything other than work reasons for months now, (really missed the freedom of spending half a day just browsing  ) still, back now :T. How did you get on? Did you find anything useful for your dad's pressie? Loved the ideas you had, wish I was as inventive in my present list.

    hi, thanks for asking!

i managed to get all my dads boxing stuff from him, and made him a photo book which arrived yesterday. i couldnt get all the articles in there tho becuase it kept cutting words/paragraphs off  but what i did got on i think he will love! :j i made the photobook the day before i was due to be paid and saved it. when i went back to it the next morning to pay a new deal had started - 50%off photobooks:D so it cost me £15 instead of £30!!!

my mum i have decided on some earrings which i am going to order in a minute then will possibly get her a jumper/cardy - unsure yet

stepdad ended up getting him a jumper

nanna number1 - i already had the boxed 'nan' cup and got her a sparkly jumper which i have already given her. we are going to a xmas party on the 20th and she wanted a new jumper to go with some trousers i had bought her earlier in the year. giving her it now means she will remember what i bought her ;)

nanna number 2 - got her a cardigan to go with the royal jelly set

niece, nephew and little brother each have a movie hamper with 4-6 dvds in :jand all came in at under £16 so happy with them!

best friends dd got her the polly pocket mega mall for £15 which had been reduced and also a pop on shop

friends 2yr old son - got him a bob the builder playset half price at £8

dads gf ended up getting her the botanics/pure products from poundshop and popped them in a basket with cellophane etc

mil - traded in some ds games and managed to get 2 new releases for £19.71 :D then i made her a giant chocolate hamper of her favourites; milka 4 varieties plus milka santa, jaffa cakes and turkish delights. the hamper looked great! total price spent was £28.71 :T
fil - sean long book, old spice aftershave and 2 x bodysprays, razor and trimmer. then did him a liqourice hamper and bought a toffee hamper from throrntons total price was £36.16

m+fil have also ordered an engraved keyring for them each at £7 each.

really happy with everything so far and just need to get my mums sorted and im finished:T:T:T
    hows urs coming along?

Am sooo terrible at logging on here! Loved your present list, wish I could've been half as organised, your presents were really thoughtful, mine were just there. Apart from kids, the present I'm most proud of was my OHs birthday one. Got him a wine cabinet that holds 18 bottles with space for hanging wineglasses, he's been after a decent wine rack for ages. Got it for £20 in carboot and bought wine glasses in tesco. Then I half filled it, he was over the moon!! How did your pressies go down, were they pleased?
