Hi, loads of things you could make , but depends on your taste in food. Also what type of soups are they packet dry/ canned/ condensed etc and what flavours?

Here are a few ideas though

Savory vegetable rice , use frozen / fresh veg (depending on budget etc) pan fry in two tbsps oil, add fresh garlic and dry herbs etc s&p, add the boiled rice and voila.

Pasta with oven roast veg (fresh mediteranean work best) basically boil pasta set aside roast veg with olive oil and herbs plus s&p in oven covered in foil then add to pasta when done.

Sesamee and chilli chicken rice. Oil in wok (very hot) add sesamee seeds and chilli flakes, fry for a few minutes add fresh garlic fry some more. Add thin strips of chicken breast( prawns, beef , lamb or chunky veg work well too) fry until golden brown and cooked add a vegtable oxo cube and some fresh chopped corriander plus 1 tbsp soy sauce & 1 tbsp thai sweet chilli sauce and S&P, cook until reduced then add your ready boiled rice and stir thouroughly.

    Hope this helps

Ps the sauces all keep for ages in fridge and herbs , sesamee seeds etc can be stored in air tight jars for ages lol

  • macaroni cheese - just add grated cheese to cooked macaroni (obvious I know!) with a squirt of tomato sauce, lovely comfort food

A pasta dish my dad used to make (and i'm going to do later in the week) is as follows.

    Cook pasta.
Make a white sauce and add cheese if you want (it's nice with or without)
Stir in the pasta and add some ham or cooked bacon. Season.
Pour into an oven dish and top with sliced tomato and more cheese.
Cook in the oven until cheese is golden and bubbling.

It's pretty much macaroni cheese, but it tastes nicer to me for some reason.

For rice, I would try a recipe my sister gave me from a magazine.

    50g butter
    1 onion - chopped
    250g rice
2 cloves of garlic - chopped
    1 tablespoon of paprika
    1 litre of veg stock
    Salt and pepper

Saut! the onion and garlic in some oil.
Add the rice, stock and paprika and stir until it's all coated/mixed. Season.
Pour into an oven dish and bake until cook (I sometimes cover it, but not always and tend to stir it a few times during cooking).

No times or temperatures i'm afraid, I just keep checking it.

It's lovely and i'm going to make that later in the week too (guess who also has a huge bag of both to use :p)

Freakyogre that's virtually the recipe my mum taught me for macaroni cheese, except we fry some chopped onion as well as the bacon and add that to the sauce/pasta (a teaspoon of english mustard added to the sauce too) - it's one of my favourites, and now I'm going to have to make it next week too :rotfl:
  • Boil some pasta(according to how many you are feeding).
Meanwhile fry some bacon and stir in some fresh, chopped tomatoes and continue to cook. Add some thyme fresh or dried is fine.
Once all your ingredients are cooked drain the pasta and mix it all together.
It's delicious and takes about 10 minutes to make.
  • Tuna pasta must be the easiest and is great for a packed lunch. Boil some pasta and put in a sieve and run under cold tap. Put in bowl and add tin of drained pasta. Can use the cheapest tin of flaked tuna. Add tin sweetcorn and salad cream. Mix and you have a meal. Can change and put in any cooked meat and finely chopped tomatoes, cucumber etc and use mayonnaise
  • Current kids favorite is a savory rice: white rice, tin of sweetcorn, some frozen peas, small chopped spring onions and a small bag of cashews.

Also like: Brown rice, sweetcorn, chopped green beans, chopped mushrooms and some diced gammon, cook the rice in some vegetable stock. Kids like to add soy sauce and eat with prawn crackers

Finally we do a kinda paella: Brown rice, again cooked in veg stock, lightly fry diced red onion, yellow pepper and choritzo, add sweetcorn and peas to boiling rice, drain, mix and serve (could add king prawns)

I eat loads of rice salad - just mix in as much veg etc as you fancy. A drop of sesame or whatever oil you have in, plus some lemon juice is good for flavour.
