ebay postage to australia

hi all
i have recently started selling some of my old books on ebay and havent had much interest. However, today i was asked about posting to australia which i am willing to do. I have checked out postage costs but i am not sure if proof of posting would cover me if it gets lost as it would in the uk. Can anyone advise me if it will and if not what i should get?
thanks

Just post them standard airmail if they're not worth much.
FWIW I ship to Oz on a regular basis and so far, without hassle.Terms & Conditions Apply0 -
Australia's postage seems to be really good not ever had any problems and items seem to arrive really quickly0

I sell a lot to Australia and always use standard airmail, with a COP it covers up to £39 of loss. The stuff arrives in Australia a lot quicker than to Europe as well for some reason.
The only issue I have with Australian buyers is that I never get paid until about day 3 or 4 (which isn't a problem of course) . Also watch some of their import rules, you can't send used clothing for instance.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Never sold anything on ebay thats gone to Australia, but as i am from Australia myself i send bday and xmas pressies every year to my family.
I sent them all xmas pressies in Nov, before the cut off date and they arrived in Feb.
As they have post boxes at the end of the property and not on the door a lot of things just get left on your door step or like my parents house they try and put things behind a post as my parents have a porch, so it can't been see by members of the public.
They don't have those 'you were out cards/ item too big for your letter box' and has been returned, please collect etc etc. So items are just left.
Not trying to put you off or anything, just letting you know what it's like from someone who knows. (should point out this is what happens where my parents live in Perth, don't know about other states)Mummy to two girls: October 2013 and February 20160 -
Thank you continualdiamond.
I suppose the one advantage with ebay selling is that we would be using airmail, so the long delays are unlikely. I normally expect my goods to arrive in about 5 working days to Australia, I have had stuff arrive in 3 before now which I think is absolutely amazing.
I have relatives in Canada and I have the same problems as you with surface mail, it can easily take 3 months. However, my cut off time for surface mail for Christmas is usually September, I've never had a cut off date in November before, maybe that just shows that the Canadian post is so much worse!I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Believe it or not Soolin the date in Nov to send xmas pressies was airmail, its normally Oct for surface mail to Australia.
So i sent the xmas pressies by airmail before the cut off date in Nov, i sent 3 actually, 1 arrived before xmas, the other 2 we assumed had been lost or worst pinched. They then turned up in Feb.
Its the only time in 6 years i've lived here and sent stuff back home that its ever happened. I always post bday gifts 7 days before its the persons bday and its always arrived in that 7 day period.
Im waiting for a dvd from my parents that was posted 3 weeks ago, its only a recording of australian rules football.Mummy to two girls: October 2013 and February 20160 -
Goodness, I thought Canada was bad!
I've obviously been very lucky with my items, I suppose I send about a dozen things a month to Australia and nothing appears to take longer than a week. Strangely enough my last problems were with Finland of all places..6-8 working days which was long enough to get one buyer leave me a neutral for excessive postal delays and for another to threaten a paypal chargeback.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
