Have found an amazing deal for flights to OSLO with the dreaded Ryanair for October . . too good a price to miss out on and could really do with the break. However trying to find a hotel somewhere central in Oslo at less than £100 per night is impossible. Anyone got any hints or tips??
Planning on staying for 3 nights idealy would like some of those nights to be weekend nights so my sister who would be coming with me wouldnt have to take much time off work.
Thanks

Hi,
Just come back from a trip 2 days ago.
The airport (Torp) is quite a distance from Oslo, £20 return on the coach, a bit more on the train, they both take around the same time though.
You should consider using a Youth Hostel, I didn't on this trip, but many years ago in Oslo, I did.
They are not bad at all.
Expect to pay top dollar for everything over there, it really is not cheap!
If you can, take tea and coffee to make in your room, as you will save a fortune, and something snacky too.

The Thon Hotel group have budget hotels in Norway. I did a request for a room at The Astoria from 23/10/09 for 3 nights and it worked out at NOK 675 (around £70) per night.
Edited: The rate above is for a single room which I now realise is no use to you! A double room is NOK 879 a night - around £90.

I have never stayed in their budget hotels so this is not a recommendation.0 -
The words Oslo and cheap dont generally go together!
I have stayed here before and its a cross between a hostel and a hotel ie some hotel rooms and some small dorms.

Would you be prepared to consider a hostel at all? If so, about 4 years ago, I stayed at a reasonably priced hostel http://www.ankerhostel.no/?lang=44 It is only about a ten minute walk into town and the bus terminal where the Ryanair coach from Torp drops you off in the middle of Oslo
They have reasonably priced double rooms that is "budget" compared to hotel accommodation in oslo.
Some impartial advice available via tripadvisor.com so you can way up if it is suitable for your needs.0 -
Have a look at www.hotelscombined.com . The cheapest I could find for you there was £51 then £56, then they jump up to £70 plus. It is Oslo. It might be worth checking other towns in Norway, however I think it will be difficult to find bargains there.0
