BT Line Rental & Caller Display

I have just got my latest BT quarterly bill and have been charged an extra months line rental - four months instead of three. It appears this is a one off extra charge because they now want the total rental in advance.

I have also been charged £7.50 for caller display for the first time. Even though I have six chageable calls on my chargecard they are still charging me:confused:

According to this Caller Display is £6 per quarter..

    Thanks for the replies.

JustPassingBy has answered my caller display queries.

Could the BT rep please advise why they have backtracked on the chargecard. The six calls were definately showing on my account and just before I was billed they were removed.

Are BT now saying the chargecard is a different account?

Will I be billed seperately for the six calls I made?

If BT changed their procedures just before they billed me surely they should have informed me first?

I feel BT have been very underhand in their procedures and are only out to make as much money as possible from their customers. They know most customers have very little choice in non LLU exchanges and they ensure they charge exhorbitant rates for the services that most people have to take from them! I pay less for my calls and broadband than I do for BT's rental!

Because somebody is on a non LLU exchange, doesn't mean that they have to take BT's Broadband service, I certainly do not.

Hi Iconic, just to confirm calls that are made through your charge card will appear on the same bill as normal calls, however are excluded from the 6 calls per quarter which must be made to have the caller display or 1571 free of charge. To have these services free, calls must be made through the line. This has always been the case for chargecard calls.

No I don't use BT broadband either but I still have to pay BT for the line rental and caller display.

But I did make the calls through the line via the chargecard:mad:

so in simpler words--if calls are not with BT then line rental is £11.25+£2.50(caller display)=£13.75 per month.
the other options being either cancel Caller display(supposed INCLUDED WITH free BT privacy my A**E) or move over the line rental.

Also, not true, I recently moved my Telephone line to my ISP, cheaper calls including line rental, free caller ID, UK technical support, no long term contract ( 30 days only ).

Great. Tell me who your ISP is and I will move everything over to them providing they are cheaper than BT and my current ISP.
