Thanks again everyone - from both PC Wizard and cpu-z i think its a 933mhz processor speed, i guess its pretty much utdated now- 6yrs old at least but it should be ok to load xp onto it.0

DK I think your best option would be to return the XP upgrade you have bought unopened, cost? about £60-£90 maybe add another £200 and you could have got a brand new pc with a 19" TFT monitor and it comes with windows XP from dell (dimension 3100).
Also upgrading an operating system isnt the best way to do it you are still left with allt he crap of the old system taking up space on your hard drive. fresh install all the way0
