UK one's are just as bad, I had an argument with a colleague who was adamant it would be cheaper to have a metric meter.

Grief! This is painful. How can a call centre not employ people with basic competence in calculating the price of the product they sell?

It just is not worth dealing with a call centre for this kind of problem. Life is too short. In the time of this conversation, 27 minutes, a letter could be written. The only thing which was gained from this conversation was a confirmation of the fact that the pricing was in cents and not dollars by 9 minutes in.
